Our Services:

What Your Neighbors Are Saying About Us

Erik S.
These guys are great. Reasonably priced, professional, reliable and attentive. The tech they just sent for a service, Brandon, was great. He took the time to teach me about the HVAC equipment I had installed some time ago, patiently answered my questions and even took the time to wipe down the front of my furnace just because.
Judith R.
We used Elite HVAC service to install a whole-house humidifier. The outstanding team of Chris, Joseph and Jorban were wonderful to work with. They are knowledgeable, responsive, polite, and we could not have asked for better service. It was evident that they love what they do! There was a minor glitch getting an electrical part, but Juan kept us updated, and it didn’t take long to resolve the issue. We highly recommend Elite and will definitely use them again!
Michael B.
Our tech Michael was great. Arrived earlier than the window we were told. He was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Probably the best tech for a service company that we have ever hired. If you use Elite, I recommend trying to request him for your service.
Jennie W.
Every interaction with Elite was excellent. Barb provided friendly and personalized help with scheduling, Steve brought his experience with old furnaces and took the time to show and explain why our very old unit was beyond saving, and Joseph and Yorvin spent several hours expertly and cleanly installing a new furnace. We called in the morning to request a diagnostic visit, and had our new furnace up and running by the end of the next day. From now on, Elite is our go-to company for HVAC service.
Bob S.
Our boiler failed a few years back on Christmas Eve. Elite came out and somehow obtained a Lockinvar boiler (98% efficiency) that we wanted. Since then, Elite has been replacing the filter (not a simple air filter, but a filter that drains 40 feet away). Whenever they come out, they always have arrived a bit early... a good thing. Also, and maybe I'm crazy, but I think there prices are fairly low. They always clean up afterwards too. I highly recommend Elite HVAC for any such needs you may have.

Benefits of Annual AC Maintenance

Annual air conditioner maintenance delivers significant advantages that outweigh the service cost many times over. A well-maintained AC system performs better, lasts longer, and costs less to operate than a neglected unit.

Energy efficiency is one of the most immediate benefits. Dirty coils, clogged filters, and worn components force your AC to work harder and use more electricity. Professional maintenance restores efficiency, reducing your cooling costs by 15% to 20% compared to an unmaintained system. For Skokie homeowners running AC through our humid summers, this represents substantial savings on monthly utility bills.

Reliability improves dramatically with regular service. Most AC breakdowns are preventable through routine maintenance that catches worn components before they fail. Systems receiving annual maintenance experience 95% fewer unexpected failures than neglected units. This reliability matters most during heat waves when you can’t afford to be without cooling.

Key maintenance benefits include:

  • Lower energy bills through improved efficiency
  • Fewer breakdowns and emergency repair calls
  • Extended equipment lifespan by 5 to 10 years
  • Maintained manufacturer warranty coverage
  • Better indoor air quality with clean components
  • Consistent comfort without hot spots or temperature swings

Skokie’s climate creates additional reasons for regular maintenance. Our humid summers promote mold growth in condensate drains and on coils. Spring pollen and urban pollution clog outdoor units faster than in rural areas. Professional maintenance addresses these local environmental factors that accelerate AC system wear.

Our AC Maintenance Checklist

Elite HVACs follows a comprehensive maintenance protocol that covers every critical component of your air conditioning system. Our systematic approach ensures nothing gets overlooked and your AC receives complete attention.

We begin with thermostat testing and calibration to verify accurate temperature control and proper system cycling. Electrical connections receive a thorough inspection, with loose connections tightened and voltage tested at major components. Capacitors and contactors get tested for proper function since these components commonly fail without warning.

The outdoor condenser unit receives special attention. We clean the coils to remove dirt, pollen, and debris that restrict airflow. The unit’s exterior fins get straightened if bent, and we verify proper clearance around the condenser for adequate ventilation. Inside your home, we inspect the evaporator coil and blower components, cleaning as needed and lubricating moving parts.

Refrigerant levels are measured and adjusted if necessary. Low refrigerant indicates leaks that we locate and repair before recharging the system. Condensate drain lines get cleared of any clogs and treated to prevent algae growth during the cooling season.

Our complete maintenance checklist:

  • Thermostat calibration and settings verification
  • Electrical connection inspection and testing
  • Capacitor and contactor performance testing
  • Outdoor condenser coil cleaning
  • Indoor evaporator coil inspection
  • Blower motor and fan component service
  • Air filter check and replacement guidance
  • Refrigerant level measurement
  • Condensate drain cleaning and treatment
  • Safety control verification
  • Overall system performance evaluation

What to Expect at an AC Maintenance Visit

Understanding what happens during maintenance helps you prepare and know what to expect from our service. Elite HVACs makes the process straightforward and convenient.

We’ll contact you before the scheduled appointment to confirm timing and answer any questions you have about your system. Our technicians arrive in clearly marked vehicles within the scheduled window. They’ll introduce themselves, discuss any concerns you’ve noticed with your AC, and explain what they’ll be checking during the visit.

The actual maintenance work takes 60 to 90 minutes for most residential systems. Our technicians work efficiently while being thorough with each inspection and service procedure. You’ll hear some noise as they work on the outdoor unit and test system operation, but most of the service happens without significant disruption.

After completing maintenance, our technician will review findings with you. If everything looks good, they’ll explain what was done and when your next service should be scheduled. If any concerns were discovered, you’ll receive clear explanations of what’s wrong, what it means for your system, and what options you have for addressing it. All recommendations come with upfront pricing so you can make informed decisions.

We provide detailed service reports documenting all work performed and any issues identified. These records are valuable for tracking your system’s condition over time and can be helpful if warranty claims become necessary.

Dangers of Skipping AC Maintenance

Neglecting air conditioner maintenance creates problems that worsen over time. What starts as decreased efficiency eventually leads to component failures and complete system breakdowns.

Dirty coils significantly reduce cooling capacity and efficiency. The outdoor condenser coil covered in dirt and debris can’t release heat properly, forcing your compressor to work harder and run longer. This excessive strain shortens compressor life and dramatically increases the risk of expensive compressor failure. Indoor evaporator coils collect dust that restricts airflow and can cause the coil to freeze.

Low refrigerant from small leaks causes serious damage when ignored. Your system runs constantly without achieving the desired temperatures. The compressor overheats, trying to compensate for inadequate refrigerant, leading to premature failure that costs thousands to repair. Catching and fixing leaks during routine maintenance prevents this damage.

Electrical component failures happen suddenly but develop gradually. Capacitors weaken, contactors wear out, and connections loosen over time. Without annual inspection, these components fail unexpectedly during peak cooling season when you need your AC most and when HVAC companies are busiest with emergency calls.

Skokie’s humid climate makes condensate drain maintenance critical. Clogged drains cause water to back up into your home, damaging ceilings, walls, and flooring. Mold growth in standing water creates indoor air quality problems and health concerns. Simple preventive drain cleaning during maintenance avoids these costly water damage scenarios.

Systems without regular maintenance fail years earlier than properly maintained units. The average air conditioner lasts 15 to 20 years with annual service, but only 10 to 12 years when neglected. Premature replacement means spending $5,000 to $10,000 years sooner than necessary.
